Egypt elected as Chair of the UNGC Regional Council of Middle East and gains a position with voting rights on the UNGC Global Council from 2018 until 2020.
The UN Global Compact Network Egypt has been chosen to chair the Middle East Region at the UNGC Regional Council of Eastern Europe & Middle East and holds a voting seat at the UNGC Global Council chaired by the UN Secretary General from 2018 – 2020.
Muhammad Al-Fouly, Executive Director of the Global Compact Network Egypt received the new position last week at the UNGC Global Meeting at Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The UN Global Compact Egypt has been operating in Egypt since 2004, leading business sustainability as the only global initiative for businesses social responsibility and sustainable development for over 14 years. It is worth mentioning that the UNGC is the main global partner in designing and driving the SDGs 2030 agenda across businesses and as acts as an advisory board for the implementation of the SDGs in cooperation with Government, Businesses & Civil Society. The Global Compact Network Egypt today has 128 Participants representing a diverse background of sectors. The GCNE partners with the majority of UN country offices to advance the SDGs and assist in the implementation of sustainable development.
