The UN Global Compact Network Egypt participated in the SDGrowth Conference, under the title “The UN Sustainable Development Goals and Business Opportunities for the Private Sector”. It was organized by the Environmental Compliance Office and Sustainable Development at the Federation of the Egyptian Industries (FEI) under the auspices of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouli on 15 – 16 January 2019 at Nile Ritz-Carlton hotel in Cairo.
The session presented by Mr. Muhammad Al-Fouly, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Egypt, entitled “Compass and Business Guide: Getting Started with Sustainable Development Goals” and addressed the SDG compass developed by the UN Global Compact Network to provide guidance for companies on how they can align their strategies as well as measure and manage their contribution to the realization of the SDGs by 2030. The 5 step tool is inspirational for companies to start working with SDGs immediately.
The objective of the Conference was to raise awareness on the goals of SDGs in terms of the private sector; provide business professionals with practical and implementable tools that allow companies to use SDGs to draw conclusions for action; and to gather stakeholders from the private and public sector, and community associations to facilitate knowledge exchange and develop new and effective partnerships.
