On November 27th, the UN-GCNE alongside IOM Egypt held a strategic Round Table event on Migration inviting prominent business figures to address the nature of migration makes the involvement of the private sector an essential component of a coherent and comprehensive approach. Businesses lead economic growth, create jobs, provide reliable incomes and improve livelihood opportunities. Furthermore, the innovation and vision of the private sector helps point the way to a stable and equitable future for migrants and hosting communities. On the other side, companies can benefit from working with migrants who provide a source of skills, knowledge and expertise, as well as markets for products and services. Private sector engagement with migrants creates shared value for all stakeholders – from the migrants and companies concerned, to the host communities, local economy and wider society in which migrants live.
